Asahikawa
Asahikawa is the northern limit of JR Hokkaidō’s Hakodate Main Line, which features Ltd Express service to Sapporo. It is also reportedly Japan's coldest city.

KuHa 789-202 leads the formation of the ‘Lilac 26’ limited express service for Sapporo at Asahikawa Station.
H100-72, a member of JR Hokkaidō’s latest local train type stops at Shin-Asahikawa on a working bound for Kamikawa. The H100's are based on JR East's GV-E400 DEMU's and will replace the last of the JNR era KiHa 40's.
Many empty stock movements pass through Shin-Asahikawa on their way from JR Hokkaidō’s depot at Nagayama such as this KiHa 150 bound for Asahikawa.
