JR East Ōmiya Workshops
To the immediate North of JR East's Ōmiya Station lies the Ōmiya Workshops. The facility functions as a centre for inspecting new rolling stock, heavy maintenence, remodelling and overhauling existing stock. The facility services not just JR East's stock but for some of the Kanto area's private operators as well.
The facility hosts an annual inspection day where the general public can visit and inspect the site, as JRS Member Mark Kavanagh did during his spare time at the end of a visit to Japan.
