New Transport Systems around Nagoya from the collection of Oliver Mayer.
The Linimo is a magnetic-levitated train, running between Fujigaoka (subway terminal) in Nagoya city and Yakusa (connection to the Aichi Loop Railway) in Toyota city. Opened in 2005, it was heavily used during the 2005 Expo, and has since been an important part of the suburban transport network east of Nagoya, although passenger numbers have remained far below the original estimates. Another shot of the Linimo, this time train 03 leaving Ai-chikyuhaku-kinen-koen (Expo Memorial Park) station on 14th January 2008.
The Peach Liner was a guideway transit system on rubber tyres. It opened in 1991 to connect Meitetsu’s Komaki station with the Tokadai New Town in Komaki city, north of Nagoya. However, due to only having about 10% of the predicted number of passengers, the line was closed in 2006. Photo near Tokadai Center station on 25th September 2006.
